About Me

My photo
ETHEL JAYNE is my pen name so to speak, but she is so much more than that. She is my creative side, my artistic talent, the definite stronger side to the two of us. We are now as one, but I will admit that we have struggled for the wheel for years and years. She is strong, confident, and full of wonderful new imaginative ideas. So here is where I will let her shine, and hopefully through success, we will find a happy medium of co-existence.

Ruby go Rugby Now in Stock

I was a silly old rug before I was rescued from the local thrift sore. Now I am a very cool, very trendy bag. I feel as though I have a new lease on life, and what is better, instead of the world walking all over me, I can carry it for you! Won't you take me home today.

I measure approx 24" wide and 18" deep. I am completely lined with a blue table cloth, ornate with white and red daises. My strap is made from two reclaimed leather belts. My belts are adjustable. I also have a a pocket on the front to carry your cell phone and keys.
These bags are awesome, and each one comes with a label and its very own story! Here is an example of what we have been working on!! Cannot wait to release these to the public, and see where things take us!!!

Our bags will be at two events this weekend!! Check us out!!

Fall Hooka In The Hills, Athens Oh

Oktoberfest, Columbus, Oh

Come to one of these two events and check out all that we have that is new! We have added lots of new bags and styles to our inventory, so come and see what we have. We will do special orders too!! If you have an idea or a request, just let us know. Here are some pics so you can see whats going on. Don't forget to leave your comments, and let us know how we are doing!!

The bag shown is our newest style, sporting our label (finally). It was originally made to be a yoga bag, but funny, most of them sold to be carried just as back packs or over the shoulder slings. We are developing a slightly shorter style with thicker pockets for the camera enthusiasts, turns out the pockets work great for all the lenses. We might have to come up with a new name for that one. Send your suggestions. We also have a new laptop bag, that is made from mens dress shirts. The only thing it is missing is a neck tie. Will follow up with photos later today. Enjoy and hope to see you this weekend.

ETHEL JAYNE ORIGINALS supports Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society!

My Reason to Relay

I Relay because I want to see an end to cancer during my lifetime. Relay gives me the unique opportunity to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission by fighting back against a disease that has already taken too much.

Please support my efforts to fight back against cancer by making a donation or joining my Relay For Life® team.

if the link does not show up, copy and past it into your browser.

Your efforts will help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information, advocate for all people to have access to screening and treatment, and offer free programs and services to improve the quality of life for people facing cancer. By being a part of Relay, we are joining a worldwide movement to help defeat cancer for future generations.

As many of you know, my mother Georgia Lewis, also known as our artist Sadie Jayne, is a breast cancer survivor. As a caregiver to a survivor, I can tell you that there is no more important cause than this one which we here at Ethel Jayne Originals Support!

We will be holding a trunk show in Vassar, Michigan September 1st and 2nd where a portion of all bags sold on those two days will go to support this team, and be donated to the Realy for Life! Please e mail me with questions or to get more details on our progress. You can even request a custom bag, to be ready for pick up at the trunk show.

Silky Satin Bag from Dresden Plate Antique Quilt

Ok, now this might make the quilters out there have a heart attack, but I salvaged this from a dusty antique store, and really could not think of a better use, than as a new bag!!! Here you will see start to finish shots. I think I can make about 10 of these from this quilt. I am so pleased with how they came out!!!

North Market Artisan Sunday's

Here are some detailed shots of our booth last Sunday at the North Market Artisan Sunday's. What a beautiful day to sit and hang out. Never mind that it was Fathers day, it was still a beautiful day, and the people and atmosphere were wonderful. Our bags were a big hit. Too bad we could only get into two of these events. We will have to see what we can do about that, stay posted. It was a cool place to be!!!!

So here is a line we are calling "Auntie Teak" after the antique crazy quilt we cut up to make them. Now before all of you cringe in disgust, over our blatent destruction, we salvaged the quilt from the dark depths of a wet basement, so it really never would have made a nice quilt. We believe the quilt dates back to the 1930's. Now how cool is this! They are really "one of a kind pieces"!
